This “credit union” doesn’t even have enough liquid capital or credit underwriting capabilities, to match any other lenders, banks or institutions offers. They gladly take members money but stingily won’t lend it on credit when asked. Anyone would be better off with a local or national bank, or competitive credit union. I’ve regrettably been with UFirst for several years & they have fallen short in supporting their members. I’ve been a UFirst member for decades. Their new online banking system is extremely problematic. Too much time has been wasted with staff members trying to correct reoccurring issues and this does not instill confidence. Since time of this post, additional issues with this credit union have taken place. Expiring my credit card a month early and not sending out a new card for weeks after (had to call), I am at the point I will close this account soon, UFirst has failed us time and time again.
Ever since 'University Federal Credit Union' became 'UFisrt', I started having problems. The human side of service practically vanished almost instantly. When I first tried to place a payment on my car loan through a neighborhood branch, like I occasionally did in the past, I was informed that I would need to do it either through their app, or over the phone, with applicable fees. This bank has some very big problem in the way their (new) online banking is set up that can cause serious problems with late payments for their clients. They set up their website so that, after you ask for a pay-off amount, and you make the pay-off (slightly higher than the outstanding balance, as is normal for a pay-off), and you see your account go to $0 balance, sometimes for several days, they then add a minor "interest" days later (on a 0 balance account!) which accrues interest without you realizing it, as you asked t... read more
Despite its new name U First Credit Union does not listen to its members. They selectively target business whom they will not process debit cards from. New online web and mobile banking interfaces are horrible and not easy to use. They also spam you with paper mailed insurance ads that are not easy to opt-out. Do not recommend at this time. Also the new name sucks, old name was better. Why are financial institutions obsessed with having "first" somewhere in the name?
